Salsa Black Bean Burgers: A Vegetarian Burger That Everyone Will Love

These salsa black bean burgers are a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional beef burgers. They are made with black beans, whole wheat breadcrumbs, salsa, egg, onion, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. The burgers are then cooked in a skillet until golden brown and cooked through. They can be served on buns with your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, cheese, and avocado.

Ingredients:

  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup salsa
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for cooking

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, mash the black beans with a fork or potato masher.
  2. Add the breadcrumbs, salsa, egg, onion, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper to the mashed beans. Mix until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 4 patties, about 4 inches in diameter.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add a little bit of oil to the pan.
  5. Cook the burgers for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Serve on buns with your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, cheese, and avocado.

Tips:

  • For extra flavor, you can add a tablespoon of taco seasoning to the burger mixture.
  • If you want to make the burgers ahead of time, you can cook them and then store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. When you’re ready to eat them, just reheat them in a pan or in the oven.
  • You can also freeze the burgers for up to 2 months. When you’re ready to eat them, thaw them overnight in the refrigerator and then cook them as directed.

Enjoy!
