There are two ways to update your Aadhaar: online and offline.
Online
To update your Aadhaar online, you need to have a registered mobile number and a valid email address linked to your Aadhaar. You can follow these steps:
- Go to the UIDAI website and click on the “Update Aadhaar” tab.
- Enter your Aadhaar number and registered mobile number.
- Click on the “Send OTP” button.
- Enter the OTP that you received on your mobile number.
- Select the field that you want to update.
- Upload a scanned copy of the supporting document.
- Click on the “Submit” button.
Offline
If you do not have a registered mobile number or a valid email address linked to your Aadhaar, you can update your Aadhaar offline by visiting a Permanent Enrolment Centre (PEC). You need to carry the following documents with you:
- Aadhaar card
- Proof of identity
- Proof of address
- Proof of relationship (if updating the address of a minor)
The process of updating your Aadhaar offline is as follows:
- Fill up the Aadhaar update form.
- Submit the form along with the required documents at the PEC.
- Your biometrics (fingerprints, iris scan, and photograph) will be captured.
- You will be given an update request number (URN).
- Your updated Aadhaar will be sent to you by post within 6-12 weeks.
It is important to note that you cannot update your Aadhaar online or offline if your Aadhaar is suspended or cancelled. You need to first get your Aadhaar reinstated before you can update it.
